Fishing Regulations

Residents and Property Owners:

  • Residents and Property Owners:
  • Residents and property owners- $5 per person, per year for ages 16 and older.
  • Residents and property owners may purchase up to 5 yearly guest permits for $25 each. Each permit is good for one person fishing with the purchase. Residents and property owners are responsible for their guests.
  • Yearly, Daily, Vets, Seniors Non-Residents:
  • Yearly-$80 single permit (one person).
  • Daily-$8.50 single permit (one person) Valid for 24 hours.
  • Seniors (65+) and Veterans $60 yearly permit (one person).
  • Rules: Wayne Lakes Village residents and property owners with permits and paying members may fish all village lakes but must use the easements. The lakes are Chippewa, Algonquin, Cherokee, Kickapoo, Sauk, Tecumseh, Miami, Winnebago, Navajo, Shawnee, Mohawk, Cucumber, Ess, Seneca, Pontiac, Minnetonka, Ottawa, and Iroquois (See fishing map areas). Fishing on Iroquois and Miami Lakes is on Village property only. There are no easements on private property.
  • Anyone fishing must display the fishing permit. Anyone caught sharing or loaning a permit will have fishing privileges suspended.
  • Each person allowed two poles in the water at one time.
  • No fishing in the swimming area of Algonquin during swimming season
  • No taking of frogs from village lakes
  • No turtle lines, turtles taken by trap only
  • No bow fishing
  • No jug fishing
  • No trot lines allowed
  • Ice fishing at your own risk
  • No throwing nets/net fishing
  • Gasoline motors are not permitted on the lakes
  • Ice fishing at your own risk
  • Park in designated areas only
  • Use trash barrels located in village Littering is subject to $500 fine
  • Fish size and daily limits:
  • Combination of 35:
  • Bluegill/Red ear-may keep all sizes.
  • Crappie-8” or larger
  • Perch-10” or larger
  • 5 fish each of catfish and bass may keep any size. Walleye 4 each must be 10” or larger. All shovelheads caught in Iroquois lake must be returned ASAP.
